“我們可以生活在一個去化石燃料的世界中嗎?”“意識存在于何處?”“為什么時間似乎只朝一個方向流動?”……今天(4月10日)下午,上海交通大學(xué)攜手《科學(xué)》雜志共同發(fā)布了125個全世界最受關(guān)注的科學(xué)問題。
這125個問題集合了全球智慧。為紀念建校125周年,上海交大與《科學(xué)》/美國科學(xué)促進會聯(lián)袂策劃發(fā)行《125個科學(xué)問題——探索與發(fā)現(xiàn)》增刊。
上海交通大學(xué)校長林忠欽,常務(wù)副校長丁奎嶺,副校長徐學(xué)敏、奚立峰、毛軍發(fā)、王偉明,《科學(xué)》/美國科學(xué)促進會國際合作總監(jiān)初曉英,世界頂尖科學(xué)家協(xié)會副主席、2013年諾貝爾化學(xué)獎得主Michael Levitt,秘書長王侯共同受邀上臺,共同按下面向全球的125個科學(xué)問題發(fā)布裝置。
林忠欽表示,重大科學(xué)問題的凝練是大學(xué)創(chuàng)新使命和能力的重要體現(xiàn),學(xué)校聯(lián)合《科學(xué)》面向全球征集與發(fā)布125個科學(xué)問題,希望能夠為推動科技進步、服務(wù)人類社會發(fā)展作出貢獻。
《科學(xué)》系列期刊出版人Bill Moran通過視頻回顧了16年前《科學(xué)》雜志社為紀念創(chuàng)刊125周年出版同樣發(fā)布了《125個科學(xué)問題——我們有哪些未知》特刊。這些問題中有些已經(jīng)在過去的10多年中得到了解決,而有些仍然是延續(xù)至今的謎題,甚至在此次的問題征集中,仍然廣受關(guān)注。
初曉英說,問題的邊界就是我們思想的邊界,只有提出正確的問題,才能更好地認清和解決全球性問題與挑戰(zhàn)。上海交大提出這樣極具創(chuàng)新的方式紀念校慶,體現(xiàn)了交大人的創(chuàng)新精神,以及對科學(xué)發(fā)展、人類未來的重要使命感。??系膯栴}結(jié)合國際前沿、全球共需、科學(xué)發(fā)展,聚焦人類福祉和前瞻重大科學(xué)問題,對未來科技的發(fā)展具有強烈的指導(dǎo)意義。
Michael Levitt表示,期待學(xué)者們和科研人員們對這125個科學(xué)問題開展熱烈探討,推動研究發(fā)展。新版125個科學(xué)問題中,個別問題是持續(xù)關(guān)注上版問題中至今尚未解決的重大科學(xué)難題,如“宇宙是由什么構(gòu)成的”“我們可以阻止自己衰老嗎”。也有具有挑戰(zhàn)性的全球共性問題,如“我們可以阻止全球氣候變化嗎”“能量存儲的未來是怎樣的”“我們有可能在另一個星球上長期居住嗎”;還有具有較強時代特征的前沿科技問題,如“為什么生命需要手性”“量子人工智能可以模仿人腦嗎”“DNA可以廣泛用作信息存儲介質(zhì)嗎”“我們?nèi)绾卧诨鹦巧祥_發(fā)制造系統(tǒng)”……
